Mosaic will be hosting its first annual “Summer Jam”. This event will run two weeks long and will be “jammed” packed with arts, music, workshops, kids camp, weekend entertainment, and more!
Along with all the activity, we will once again be highlighting the talents of local artists. We plan to have several displaying and will be featuring three. (Featured Artists.) We also are preparing a project area called “Vinyl Project 1”, this year’s theme will be “Suddenly Last Summer”. This project is offered to any interested artist or artisan who would like to participate, the only requirement is to somehow incorporate an old LP vinyl record into their work. We hope this will make an interested assignment.
Also this year, we will be hosting a week-long kids art camp for children 2nd thru 6th grade. This will include arts workshop in the morning, a simple lunch provided by Mosaic volunteers, and some sort of entertainment activity in the afternoon. Schedule to run from July 19-23, 10:00am-3:00pm. Followed up the evening of the 23, 6-8:00pm, with a “Look What I Did” Reception for family and friends to be able to view the children’s completed projects. This camp is open at no charge to all area kids, but preregistration is suggested. More details coming soon.
We will also be having our regular Saturday evening activities during this two week period, which include entertainment, the art exhibit, and refreshments. July 24 will be a Music Mix, a combination of 2-3 talented, local entertainers. And July 31 we will be featuring Kevin King Magicomedian, combined with Edna Wade, a black light chalk artist.
Adult workshops will run in the evenings during the two weeks and may consist of projects from woodcarving to abstract painting and many things in between. Schedule for these will be coming out soon. There is a small fee for adult workshops. Preregistration will be a must.
You may also check out some of the unique, hand-made art items for sale in our gift shop.
Except for the adult workshops, all the events associated with “Summer Jam” will be open and free to the public. We expect this to be a wonderful time for the community to connect with the arts in a very meaningful way. Don’t miss your opportunity to be involved.
